Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah : This is a prayer for all, meaning sarve bhavantu sukhina— may all have peace and happiness. Santu Niramayah–May all be free from illness, and have good health. Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu— May all have a good mind that they see good and auspiciousness in everything. Ma Kashchit Dukh Bhagbhavet— May no one suffer or be distressed, may every one be happy and joyful and may peace prevail everywhere.

This prayer for peace is essential for a progressive world. A healthy body and a peaceful mind can think of a happy and a progressive universe and human being, whereas a disturbed mind can only think of destruction leading to distress. This is an apt prayer in the present world which is full of afflictions, people are always busy in competing with each other for material comfort, and hence day by day they are becoming selfish and self-centred, which leads to unhappiness, distress and conflicts with each other and finally affects good health. If this prayer is chanted every day along with other prayers, and remember it and practice it throughout the day, the world will be devoid of selfishness, jealousy, the main causes of destruction, unhappiness and distress.
