Dhoka: A Unique and Refreshing Tobacco of UAE

Dokha a traditional Middle Eastern tobacco is quite popular in many countries due to its flavor which is typically mixed with flowers, herbs, spices and fruits. Up to 3 feet long a dhokha plant can grow in the first six months of the year when the weather conditions are just perfect for its survival and growth. In addition to this, they can grow upto6 feet in the final two months of its life, aided by the warmer milder nights. It is harvested in June when the plants are hung outside to dry in the desert. It is usually finely ground to preserve the delicate flavors of the tobacco leaves to maintain the strength, freshness and green coloration of the plant.
