Generally, teenagers are more prone to pimples, but for some people, this can occur in their later life.

Baking soda has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which help in easing the inflammation and pain on the skin. This property also makes it an effective remedy for skin irritation, bug bites, and rashes.

When your skin pores become infected, redness, swelling, and pus are formed. The antibacterial properties of baking soda help in getting rid of it by unclogging the pores and fighting off the infection.

It has a pH value of 9, which makes it alkaline. It can also be used as a remedy for indigestion in your stomach.

For your teeth, it is also useful in fighting off the harmful bacterias in your mouth. It also promotes good breath and imparts whiteness in your teeth.

How to use baking soda?

In order to use baking soda for pimples, there are different ways in which you can use it. Let’s look at them.

You can make a face mask by adding two teaspoons of baking soda to your facial cleanser and adding warm water to it. Apply it on your face and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it with warm water.

For using it as an exfoliant, apply the same mixture as made above and wash right after it. You can also add baking soda to your facial scrub to strengthen its cleansing ability.

You can also add two teaspoons of baking soda to your face wash and use it.

For getting rid of skin bumps due to acne, make a paste by adding two teaspoons of baking soda in water. Apply it on the bumps and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it off and moisturize the area.

You must use a moisturizer after washing off as baking soda imparts dryness to your skin.

Precautionary measures

Baking soda must be used in fewer amounts as it’s excessive use can have negative impacts(skin irritation and can remove protective oils).

The pH value of your skin remains between 4.5 and 5.5, whereas baking soda has a pH value of 9. Any change in your skin’s pH value can drastically impact your skin’s ability to generate protective oils to protect itself from external harm. It is not advisable to use it daily.
