The Conservatory recently received a positive press for its new program, Entrepreneurial Musicianship, which was designed to help students establish successful careers in the music industry.  Music production in USA

The Conservatory, which was founded in 1867, is also home to the 1,013 Jordan Hall, National Historic Landmark and "one of the most acoustically perfect performance spaces in the world".

Founded in 1867, the Boston Conservatory offers Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Music, artist diplomas and certificates in such departments as music, musical theater, and musical education.

It is also one of the few conservatories offering teaching in all major instruments, including collaborative piano, harp, marimba, and vocal pedagogy.

The Boston Conservatory offers admission to approximately 40% of its applicants and has an annual retention rate of over 85%.

Student accommodation - a requirement for freshmen - is a series of traditional Boston brownstones. Students share cafes, campus restaurants and gyms with nearby Northeastern University.

The alumni of the Boston Conservatory include classical guitarist Lily Afshar and the bright Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, whom many considered to be America's best mezzo-soprano until her tragic untimely death in 2006.

Cleveland Institute of Music

The Cleveland Institute of Music may be smaller than most conservatives on this list, but it boasts a number of benefits and opportunities that should interest the serious music student.

In particular, the lower cost of living in Cleveland translates into a lower school cost and housing costs.

Like most other colleges and conservatories, first-year students are expected to live in student housing. Admission is competitive, with only 30% of candidates offering a place.

The Cleveland Institute of Music enjoys a good reputation in all respects, especially when it comes to their bows and wood departments, both of which are led by the best teachers.

Thanks to the Institute's focus on the training of university students, students have many opportunities for achievement. Half of the school's teachers are current or past members of the world-class Cleveland Orchestra and Severance Hall is located a few blocks from the campus.
