If you’re a new mom, you may be wondering whether you should shop for a pack n play for newborn sleeping or if it would pose to be dangerous for them.

First of all, let me clarify that it’s totally safe for the newborn to sleep on a pack and play. Actually, there are pack n play’s designed for newborn sleeping. A popular brand like Graco has produced a lot of models that are super safe for newborns.

However, there are lots of brands emerging on a daily basis, that’s why you should be careful if you’re on the lookout for one. Consider the following when choosing a pack n play:

>CPSC certified: check to see if the pack n play is certified by Consumer Product Safety Commission to ascertain if it’s built with safest standards.

>Breathable side mesh: this one is an important feature to ventilate the Playard at high temperatures.

>Firm mattress underneath: the mattress should be firm and thin to prevent SIDs risks to infants.

>if you are to shop for another model aside from Graco, make sure it is well constructed.

>removable bassinet and changer: when looking for a Playard, keep in mind that there are models without these features. So, you should consider whether you want a pack n play with a bassinet and changer or not.

When using a Playard

>do not use a soft mattress instead, shop for a firm one if the older one is worn out

>make sure the toys and other tools are well attached since they would pose a choking hazard

>remove high items such as big toys that the baby may use to get out

>do not use the Playard with a baby beyond the recommended weight limits

To wrap up, the most important thing to consider is if the pack n play complies with the set-out regulations for the safety of your little wonder.
