Travelling is fun. But it can prove to be a task if you are a yoga lover. Yes, it can shake up your routine, taking you away from the regular practice but to be honest, you can still count on it, irrespective of the fact that you are travelling.

It is very easy to dovetail yoga and travelling together, even if your schedule is upside down. All you need to do is find some time in between your itinerary and get going. A work schedule or a pleasure trip can indeed throw you off track for a little while but you can take your yoga on the roads with you. Here are seven ways on how you can make yoga your companion for the whole trip.

1. Be Ready, Be Prepared

Pack smart and for that, you can lay your hands on a portable yoga mat that can be easily folded into your bag. Some hotels might already have access to it. You can call and confirm it and if don’t have the access, carry one. Alongside, pack clothes that are multi-functional. They should double up their style duty as a great one for yoga practise as well as your trip. Get creative, explore and pack only important things to travel light.

2. Go Easy On Yourself

You might not be able to fit yoga in your everyday schedule but you can definitely try it thrice a week. Set realistic goals and achievable time that you can commit to every day. It can be in the morning or once you are back to your hotel room. Try to clock at least 20 minutes. It will help you stay focused, grounded and happy as you take yoga with you.

3. Plan A Simple Routine

Before you start your yoga routine, have the poses you would like to do noted down so you know the routine well. A few simple asanas should do the deed. This is helpful when you have been self-practising at home. Do the poses you like to do but don't overburden yourself.

4. Don't Make Excuses

If you forgot your yoga mat back home and also don’t have it in your hotel room, don't make excuses. You can still do it on a robe or a scarf. Yoga is an equipment-free workout and it doesn't take up a lot of space. The great thing is that you can do it anywhere you like and at any time. There are poses for a small or bigger place. You can try out Trikosana, or neck poses, stretching etc that are easy to do.

5. Look For Classes Nearby

Nowadays, it is easy to find yoga studios wherever you are. Be it the beach or the park, there will be options around.

Now, if you are visiting India for your trip, let us tell you that you can easily get yoga teacher training in India where the yoga actually started. This will help you stay motivated, while on a trip. Yoga retreat holidays should undoubtedly be on your bucket list as it will let you immerse in the practice and you will remember it for the rest of your life. Give them a try!

6. Using An App

If you don't find a studio, you can always find it right on your smartphone. There are a plethora of apps that let you practise asanas wherever you are. The levels range from beginners to intermediate and hence you can choose it as per your requirement.

In case you don’t find something suitable, you always have access to online videos. They are easy to follow and can be practised comfortably.

7. Remember It Is More Than Just Asanas

You can do yoga all the time. Wondering how? Meet the meditation requirement which you can do without any sort of planning. Practice ardha chandrasana while on the go. Do deep breaths. You can chant mantras as it will help you panic less and stay calm during your journey.

Use your trip as a reason to enhance your yogic skills by working it more than just asanas like niyamas. It helps discover peace even in travel chaos!
