Brand Agency vs Marketing Agency

An marketing agency and a branding agency both work to take a brand to its consumers, but their approaches are very different. A branding agency ultimately looks at building up brand equity- which is a long term goal. In order to achieve that, you have to start right from understanding the intended customers and the market, to positioning the brand in a unique way so that it creates its own niche and lay out a blue print for brand building that ensures building up and improving a brand’s reputation. It requires a holistic approach, and marketing it in such a way so that customers can relate to it.

Mr. Subhanshu Ranjan Maurya, marketing expert, CEO and founder, Geoxis, says, “A good branding agency understands that customers stick to a brand that they can relate to- so its priority is to develop a brand story that will appeal to customers. With newer media becoming popular, a branding agency seeks to engage new and young customers by creating immersive brand stories, so that the brand can increase its customer base and keep the brand relevant for the new age.”

Marketing agencies deal with advertising, which is just one part of marketing. For ad agencies, the priority is to create advertisements, which aim to make the products or offers look attractive to the customers. It is a short-term objective to achieve, and there is a slim chance of developing a long-term strategy for brand building or enhancing brand reputation. Marketing agencies specialize in short term promotions, but to weave them in together to create a engaging brand story- you need a good branding agency.
