Do I Need Two Wedding Photographers

Posted by J S Coates Wedding Photography on February 23rd, 2020

As a West Midlands Wedding Photographer,  I only offer two packages to my couples. The first is me, on my own capturing your wedding and the second is me with a second shooter. Both are all-day coverage from morning till evening. With that in mind, one of the most asked questions I get when I meet with potential wedding clients is “Do I Need Two Wedding Photographers ?”

Hopefully, this article will help answer that.

Why Have Two Photographers?

1
. Two photographers is the only way to get full coverage of both the bride & groom’s morning preparations.  It is possible for a single photographer to capture moments of both the bride and groom is distance and location isn’t an issue, however, for full coverage, one photographer would follow the bride and one would follow the groom.

2. It’s obvious that a single person can only be in one place at any one time. Weddings are eventful affairs and in-between the key moments of a wedding are lots of little ones and interactions between guests. Having two photographers increases the percentage of more of these moments being captured.

Even if the two photographers happen to be capturing the same moment, each will capture their own perspective giving a fuller coverage. A prime example of this would be the aisle walk. With one photographer, the usual position would be to capture the bride coming down the aisle. If you have a second photographer capturing the groom's reaction, it completes the moments.

3. The simplest of reasons for having two photographers is simply to gain more images. Whilst you may not get double the amount, logic dictates you will get more than if a single photographer covered your wedding.

FAQ’s that usually follow ‘Do I Need Two Wedding Photographers?'

1. Will The images be consistent?
Yes, when I book in a second photographer it is still me that edits their work. It has the same look and feel as my own images. I also only use photographers that have a similar style to me.

2. Who will be my second shooter?
A professional wedding photographer like myself.

3. Will The Second Shooter be there all day
?
Usually, they will stay until the first dance as having a second photographer after that is overkill
