An electric heater or heat pump – What to choose?

Important: The power of a Hayward millivolt pool heater will be determined according to the size of the pool but also according to the available power of the electrical installation.

A heat pump is a device of more complex design than the electric heater which explains its higher price. It is more suitable for swimming pools from 40m3 to 150m3. Its performance, called the Performance Coefficient (COP), which can reach 6 in optimal climatic conditions, varies according to the outside temperature and becomes weak when it is low around 5 ° C.

We can, in this case, project a heating system where the heat pump would be coupled with an electric heater that would take over at low outside temperature.

The hayward aboveground pool heater, like the Heat Pump, simply needs an electrical supply, an arrival and an outlet of water placed on the pipe back to the pool after the filter.

The heat pump:

It has numerous advantages for pool heating. It is a system that allows us to capture the heat of the air and transmit it to the pool water.

Its operating principle is quite complex (see heat pump technology), but very economical, since it relays 2 to 6 times the energy it consumes.

The rise in temperature of the pool is 2 to 5 days with continuous filtration. The device is installed by a simple connection to the water circuit and the electric current.

A manual or digital system allows you to control the temperature of the pool more or less. The cost of heating is very accessible: 2 euros a day is enough for the heating of a 50 m³ pool! The installation is simple. The cost of the device is quite high but it is very quickly profitable since the cost of use is very low.

Solar heating:

Use free energy: solar energy. In a classic solar pool heating system, solar collectors are installed on the roof of the house located nearby and connected to the pool pump.
