Why cyber security training is important

Cybersecurity training is very important for any organization in order to ensure that it has an appropriate defense response to all kinds of cyber attacks perpetrated by attackers looking to steal valuable and critical data from that organization. Cyber security training focuses on training all of the employees and stakeholders of an organization. As technology improves over the years, and as organizations start to upgrade their technology used in the work place to improve productivity and better connectivity, there are more points of attack opened up for the hackers to get into the organization’s data.

Attacks like ransomware, malicious attachments, malware, viruses, DoS (Denial of Service attacks) are common ways in which hackers try to penetrate the security defenses that are put in place by organizations, and this accounts for a massive loss to the organizations in terms of revenues as well as in terms of equipment and software being damaged.

The first line of defense for any organization is the employees working at that organization, and so they play a key role in ensuring that the organization and the crucial data as well as the hardware is protected from such malicious actors, and this is why cyber security training is considered a mandatory part of business sustainability training and every employee is required to undergo this training.

Increase in ransomware:

Over the last ten years, we have seen a dramatic rise in the occurrence of malware and ransomware attacks that specifically target large and mid-size organizations in return for a hefty ransom payment. It is in fact estimated that there will be an attack on an organization for every 14 seconds that pass, which is an alarming statistic. This means that organizations need to focus more on training their employees on avoiding such attacks by being careful with the attachments that they open, the files that they are sharing and so forth. This is accomplished in the cyber security training phase.

Regular Testing needs to be done:

While it is great to have a classroom type session wherein the threats are made clear to the employees along with the steps that are to be taken to avoid such threats from threatening the company, it is even more better when the employees are given active training wherein they encounter these threats on a real basis and are able to learn the required skills needed to defend the organization on the job.

This is where cyber security simulation comes in. This is a simulation platform that simulates real-world threats such as viruses, malware, ransomware in a controlled environment. By undergoing the cyber security simulation exercise, the employees will be aware of the real world practices needed to be used in order to properly defend the company’s assets and data from being targeted by the hackers.

These are some of the reasons why cyber security training is very important to the survival and proper functioning of an organization, and it is imperative that every employee gets this training on a regular basis to keep up with the breakneck speed at which technology is evolving today.
