CJ Hello, A Cable TV Company

CJ Hello, A Cable TV Company, Made An Announcement In The Next-Generation Energy Market.

We will begin to make a leap forward as a “smart city solution provider” that provides ICT convergence services for homes and communities based on local services and technology, which are core competencies of existing businesses.

CJ Hello announced on the 8th that it has started this year 'Power Cloud' business that provides ICT-based electric energy efficiency service, making it the first year to enter the 4th Industrial Revolution Energy Business.

The company plans to save about 600MWh of electricity by 2020, equivalent to the output of two aging coal power plants, by launching a smart energy business based on the solid regional network infrastructure of the existing broadcasting and telecommunications business.

The Power Cloud is a regionally based intelligent energy management solution business. Its strength is to maximize the power consumption efficiency by analyzing electric energy usage data in real time using 'AICBM (AI, IoT, Cloud, Bigdata, Mobile)', the core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

CJ Hello plans to expand the ICT capability of existing projects to adjacent areas, discover new business models based on regions, and reinforce the localization that is appropriate for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In particular, the power cloud business, which combines public utilities and ICT, is significant in that it has laid the foundation for evolving into a “smart city solution provider”. CJ Hello plans to contribute to power savings for households as well as energy-heavy companies distributed in regions such as industrial complexes through the power cloud business.

CJ Hello started its first Energy Storage System (ESS) business and completed the completion of a construction contract with Seoul National University in December last year. The contract is the first private investment implementation case for ESS in public institutions and is expected to be an important foundation for future business expansion. CJ Hello has expanded the scope of investment business starting from Seoul National University and has completed a total of 15 ESS contracts.

ESS is an industrial energy saving system that can collect power and use it when needed. The biggest advantage is that you can save the nightly electricity with low electricity rates and use it during the day.

Currently, the government is planning to introduce more than 5% of ESS obligations to public institutions with more than 5000kW contract power. Through this agreement, Seoul National University can reduce the electricity bill by more than 8.5 billion won over 15 years by complying with the government's obligation to introduce ESS.

CJ Hello will develop a home smart energy manager that will play the role of 'smart toad house' and expand the new energy business scope into the home. Entering the home energy market based on cable TV-based regional networks, we will provide differentiated energy efficiency services that combine broadcasting, telecommunications, and mobile to create an environment that can easily adjust and reduce power consumption at home.

RohSeong-chul, Managing Director of the New Growth Promotion Division, said, “At the time when the government's new renewable energy policy and smart energy market development are in full swing, it is significant to establish ESS preemptiveness of Seoul National University. We will pioneer the market and accelerate the expansion into local smart city business and home IoTbusiness. ”

CJ Hello will accelerate the development of new energy markets. Starting from the public and private sector investment projects in line with the ESS promotion policy, we will expand energy efficiency and renewable energy related projects such as demand response (DR), energy management system (xEMS), and virtual power plant (VPP). . To this end, the company plans to upgrade its own energy management platform and integrated control center.
