It is a very tough decision to make whether to do online distance learning Masters in Business Administration or full time course. It is faced by experienced professionals whether to take sabbatical or quit their job to pursue MBA full time or go for distance learning while in the job.

  • Meaning:

As the name suggests, the distance learning MBA conduct lectures through virtual mode like videos, emails and post. They are also known as online / E-learning MBA. Whereas in Full Time MBA requires physical lectures which are held in the classroom and there is a direct contact between the students and the faculty. They have various campus activities in which the students has to participate such as sports, elocution, quizzes, competitions, etc.

  • Curriculum:

There will be a concise and crisp curriculum in Distance learning MBA while in full time MBA, one will have theory as well as practical, all-inclusive in 2 years course.

  • Delivery of Course:

As the name suggest, the delivery of classes will be either online or some institutes send the study material to the students through posts. While in full-time MBA, it is classroom study with the proper time-table and fixed schedule.

  • Teaching Principles:

In distance learning studies, there is a lot of flexibility in terms of exam schedule, venue selection, and submission of assignments. While in full-time studies, there is a strict and tight schedule for assignments, class participation and exam dates.

  • Duration of the course:

The distance learning program can be completed between 1-3years while full time course has a duration of 2 years.

  • Intake and admission process:

There is no fixed time period to seek admission into a distance learning MBA program. Whereas, as the number of seats are limited, there is a lot of competition to get the seat in a full time MBA program.

Distance program has a very simple and user friendly admission process. On the other hand, the admission process is complex and elaborate for full time MBA. One has to clear all the three rounds; an entrance exam, then group discussion and lastly, personal interview to get an admission in the full time program.

  • Exposure:

There is no industrial trip involved in Distance learning MBA so there is less exposure in terms of learning. While, in Full-Time MBA, the students will have industrial visits, factory visits, and field visits which is a part of the curriculum.

  • Placement:

No placement process is involved in Distance Learning MBA and it is upto the candidate to search or change the job. On the contrary, in Full-Time MBA, the placement process is conducted at the end each final academic year and students have the opportunity to be hired by one of the best companies tied-up with the college.

  • Networking:

 There is a limited interaction between the students and the faculty or student to students only via email or sometime no interaction at all in distance learning MBA. While in full-time MBA, there is a continuous interaction between students-faculty and students-students and also with guest lectures and students, hence there is a large scale of networking and in an advantageous.
