Sub woofers, audio mixers, and wireless microphones

Creating your own music is giving a gift back to the world.  It feeds your soul and those you share it with.  Some people can ruin the entire musical experience by unbalancing the flow of things.  For example, some teenagers think you have to overdo it with sub woofers instead of balancing the tones properly between the subs, mid-range, and tweeters.

To get the full effect of music, whether you are creating it or appreciating it, you need to balance out your tones based on the type of music.  The sub woofers offer the deep, hearty feelings in the music but should not be over used.  Over using the subs will only serve to distort the music and make the window rattle.

Balancing out the music before it even reaches the subs is done on an audio mixer.  This sets the levels and tones in the music while it’s being produced and recorded.  When recording your own music, tuning it during playback and recording will help you accentuate and round out the sounds.

Using audio mixers are especially important if you are using more than one microphone.  The mixer board will enable you to blend the tones so equal sound comes out of each speaker.  It can reduce any background noise that was recorded as well. The boards are very complex and should only be used by someone with experience.

Speaking of microphones, should you choose a microphone with a cord or a wireless microphone?  If you are recording music, a microphone with a cord is far superior because you have a direct connect to the sound.  You don’t loose anything in translation, as long as the cord is in good shape.

However, using a wireless microphone has distinct advantages, too.   These are especially handy at a live venue where the speaker or singer needs to move freely around.  Without a cord they are less likely to trip and get injured, or injure some one else as they walk around.  They are best for larger venues where you may have to be quite a distance off stage.

Taking all of this into account when you are creating music can be overwhelming if you are new to it all.  Getting your music from paper to sound system can be a challenging process.  Unless you are gifted at using all equipment, like the audio mixers we talked about, you will most certainly need people to help you.

Investing in proper equipment is a must when you are performing.  For example, old or low quality sub woofers can completely distort your sound.  Using the right tools will make it easier for you to strictly focus on what you love; creating music.

ComStat Sound Company is passionate about all things music.  They carry a wide variety of equipment to create music, as well as play it in your venue.  They also install premium PA systems with state of the art equipment and superior wiring.
