London Duck Tours And Our Friends On The South Bank ? So Much To See And Do!

Posted by londonducktours on May 23rd, 2013

Once rather maligned by some as something of an architectural eyesore, London’s South Bank is about to undergo an exciting major redevelopment. The centrepiece of the £100m overhaul is a spectacular glass pavilion that will ‘float’ about the Southbank Centre and provide a brand new transparent space for choirs and orchestras to rehearse.

London’s Cultural Quarter

Looks, aside, however, It’s the calibre of cultural riches housed on the South Bank that brings people flocking. The National Theatre is enjoying one of its most celebrated seasons thanks to the vision of its artistic director Nicholas Hytner. A stone’s throw away, the largest cinema screen in the whole of the UK lies in the squat drum of BFI IMAX, currently booking for the welcome return of Robert Downey Jr’s swaggering Tony Stark in Iron Man Three.

From music in the air to creatures under the sea

The Royal Festival Hall has been attracting the best orchestras in the world to its hallowed concert spaces for generations and there’s always something going on if you’re just passing through, from art exhibitions to fashions shows to jazz bands and more. The Sea Life London Aquarium is another jewel in the South Bank’s crown, where you’ll witness everything from penguins to sharks without ever getting wet!

And if all these activities and entertainments have given you an appetite you really are spoilt for choice with regards places to eat and drink. Thanks to a recent influx of new eateries along the South Bank you can find almost any cuisine in the world in the area. Gabriel’s Wharf is a great place for pizza restaurants and independent cafes and bars. If you fancy something extra special don’t forget the world-renowned OXO Tower Bar and Restaurant.

Don’t forget your Duck!

All these things to see and do on the South Bank, and that’s not even mentioning all the shopping, food markets and sightseeing! So after you’ve disembarked from your Duck after your London Duck Tour, stick around and explore the South Bank – there’s so much to see and do!
