Features of fiber optic distribution frame

Fiber optic distribution frame is used for the termination and distribution of the backbone optical cable of the central office in the optical fiber communication system, which can easily realize the connection, distribution and dispatch of optical fiber lines.

Main features of ODF:

Fully modular design, full frontal operation;

Integrate welding and wiring to maximize high density;

Can be installed on a 19-inch standard rack;

Suitable for ribbon and non-band optical cables;

Various adapters such as FC, SC, ST and LC can be installed by card;

The adapter and the device are installed in a 30° snap-on type, which not only ensures the bending radius of the jumper, but also avoids laser burns to human eyes. Easy to operate and perfect protection;

Both the optical cable and pigtail have a storage space of more than 2m.

In recent years, in the actual work of optical communication construction, through the comparison of the use of several products, we believe that the selection of fiber optic distribution frames should focus on the following aspects.

(1) Core capacity

An fiber optic distribution frame should be able to put the fiber optic cables with the largest number of cores in the office completely. If possible, several optical cables with more interconnectedness can be placed in one frame to facilitate optical path deployment. At the same time, the capacity of the distribution frame should correspond to the series of common optical cable cores, so that the capacity waste of the fiber optic distribution frame due to improper matching can be reduced or avoided during use.

(2) Types of functions

As the terminal equipment of the optical cable line, the fiber optic distribution frame shall have 4 basic functions.

①Fixed function After the optical cable enters the rack, its outer sheath and reinforcing core shall be mechanically fixed, ground wire protection parts shall be installed, end protection treatment shall be carried out, and the optical fibers shall be grouped and protected.

②Capacity function After the optical fiber drawn from the optical cable is fused with the tail cable, the excess optical fiber is coiled and stored, and the fusion splice is protected.

③Adjustment function Plug the connector attached to the tail cable to the adapter, and realize the optical connection with the optical connector on the other side of the adapter. Adapters and connectors should be able to be flexibly inserted and removed; the optical path can be freely deployed and tested.

④Storage function Provide storage for various cross-connected optical cables between racks, so that they can be placed in a regular and neat manner. There should be an appropriate space and method in the fiber optic distribution frame to make the wiring of this part of the optical connection line clear, easy to adjust, and meet the minimum bending radius requirements.

With the development of optical fiber networks, the existing functions of fiber optic distribution frames can no longer meet many new requirements. Some manufacturers combine some optical fiber network components such as optical splitters, wavelength division multiplexers and

Optical switches, etc. are directly installed on the fiber optic distribution frame. In this way, even if these components are conveniently applied to the network, it also adds functionality and flexibility to the fiber optic distribution frame.
