REVOLUTIONIZE YOUR SMILE WITH DENTAL CROWNS & VENEERS IN FAIRVIEW, TX

Dental crowns and veneers can be used to restore your teeth to improve function as well as to enhance their appearance. Modern advancements in dentistry make it possible for these restorations to feel comfortable, and look more natural than ever.

DENTAL CROWN TREATMENT IN FAIRVIEW & ALLEN, TX

Dental crowns are commonly referred to as “caps”, dental crowns surround the entire tooth and are often used when natural teeth are weakened by decay or trauma. Because the crown encases the tooth completely, it is used to protect and strengthen your tooth so that you can function and chew without worry.  At Sloan Creek Dental, we use metal-free crowns that are both durable and natural looking so you can smile confidently.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY I MAY NEED A DENTAL CROWN?

Your smile may benefit from a dental crown if a tooth is damaged or decayed to the point that a dental filling will not provide a successful restoration. Dental crowns are less invasive and require much less recovery time than dental implants because the natural tooth does not have to be extracted.  Most commonly, dental crowns are used in an effort to correct the following dental scenarios:

  • Anchor and attach a dental bridge
  • Broken/fractured tooth
  • Chipped/cracked tooth
  • Cosmetic enhancement
  • Post root canal coverage
  • Protection over large fillings
  • Repair teeth that may have become too broken or decayed to be fixed with a filling
  • To build up a small or worn down tooth such as a misshapen tooth

PORECLAIN CROWNS

At Sloan Creek Dental, we use porcelain crowns as they are the most popular type of crown used nowadays because of the durability of the material compared to other types of crowns.  Some advantages of using porcelain crowns are:

  • Porcelain crowns provide the best and most natural look as they match your surrounding teeth in shape, size, and color
  • The best option for front teeth restorations.
  • They are biocompatible, which means they will be toxic-free as no metal will be used.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR A DENTAL CROWN PLACEMENT?

Crown placement is a two-step process which involves two visits to our office.  On the first visit, impressions of the tooth will be taken which will be used to create your very own custom dental crown.  This impression will be sent to the lab where it will be fabricated by a dental laboratory.

While the crown is being crafted, the dentist will clean and remove any decay, and shape the surface of the tooth to properly fit the crown.  Once these details are complete, we’ll fit you a temporary restoration so the tooth is not exposed. Once your permanent crown is in, you will come back to the office where we will remove your temporary crown, the tooth will be cleaned prior to placing the new crown onto the tooth, and the dentist will ensure the spacing and bite are accurate.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY DENTAL CROWN?

Your crown should be considered just like your real tooth.  With a healthy oral hygiene routine like brushing and flossing regularly, going to the dentist for general check-ups and cleanings, your crown will last for a very long time.
