How to Visit Distilleries in Vancouver on a Budget

Posted by The Alchemist on December 1st, 2020

You don’t need to go far just to go on a winery or distillery tour. Vancouver is home to many distilleries and wineries that will make you feel like you are in the world’s best winery and distillery places. But if you’re still on a tight budget, you might want to keep the following money-saving tips in mind the next time you’re planning to visit a distillery in Vancouver:

  1. Go with a large group

It’s costlier if you go by yourself or with only one or two people. You can save money, especially on transportation if you go with a large group. So, if you’re planning to go to a distillery in Vancouver, tell your friends or family.

But make sure you also ask the distillery in Vancouver how many people they can accommodate. You don’t want to come in there with a group of 20 people only to be turned away because they can’t accommodate this number.

  1. Hire cheaper transportation

If you want to go in groups, you can just use one mode of transportation like a small bus or take a big van or car. Make sure you look for cheaper modes of transportation, especially if you are visiting multiple distilleries. Since you will be sampling alcoholic drinks, it would be prudent to hire a driver specifically for getting you to the different distilleries in your itinerary. If you want to cut down on costs, you can ask if someone will volunteer to be the driver.

  1. Mix it in your travel itinerary

Another thing that you can do is to include it in your travel itinerary. If you’re visiting Vancouver, you can include visiting distilleries or wineries in your itinerary. There are some places where they already include accommodation, so you can get the full experience. Rather than spend the night somewhere else, you can just spend it there at the distillery or the vineyard and then get a tour around their facilities.

  1. Compare the tasting fees

Do your research before you go to a distillery in Vancouver. Ask about their tasting fees. Compare the distilleries so you have a better idea of the most budget-friendly distilleries to visit.

While you’re at it, try comparing the costs of their products as well. You’ll want to take home a bottle or two so make sure you have an idea of their prices, so you can squeeze it into your budget. And remember, the more people who will attend the tasting event, the cheaper it will cost.

  1. Go during the off-seasons

Liquor just costs more during busy seasons. The same is true if you want to sample what they have to offer at their bars. Some distilleries have their own bars where you can try their cocktail drinks. During happy hours, the drinks can cost more.

The Alchemist can help you find good distilleries to visit that will fit in your budget.
