Poverty as a challenge to sustainable development

Before we delve into poverty and sustainable development, let us first understand what sustainable development means. Sustainable development meets the present needs without compromising on the ability of the future generation to meet their personal needs. Sustainable development has many concepts, but at its core, it is an approach towards development that aims to balance the competing and different needs against environmental awareness and economic and social limitations that society faces.

Sustainable development ensures a healthy and strong society that meets the needs of its population, including the existing and future community. It promotes social cohesion, personal well-being, and inclusion and aims to create an equal opportunity for all. One of the main aims of sustainable development is to eradicate poverty. No poverty in Haryana is the primary goal of the government, but that throws up many challenges.
