                In information society the focus of commerce is on the generation and distribution of information.A technological revolution is changing our ways of life,the way we live,work and play.computer is changing the ways we communicate,do business and learn about the different branhes ofeducation.Knowledge is nowadays more accessible due to advancement in computer technology.

DEFINATION OF COMPUTER

                                                The computer is derived from the latin word compute.which mean to calculate.So a computer is normally considered to be a calculation device that can perform arithmetic and logical operation at a very fast speed.

 A   computer is an electronic device that can accept data,process it and give result after that processing.

Mainframe Computer

                       Mainframe is an industry term for a large computer.The name comes from the way the machine is build up i.e all units are hung into a frame.Thus the mainframe computer is build into a frame,therefore it is called Mainframe.

Because of high development costs mainframes are typically manufactured by large companies such as IBM,Amdahl,Hitachi.

Mini Computer

                        Minicomputers were introduced in the early 1960's and announced a new era in computing.They are relatively low cost and small.This setup allowed more people to have access to computers.

Personal Computer

                       The term micro computer came into popular after the introduction of the minicomputer.Microcomputers are cheap and easy to use.

Desktop Computer

                      Today the desktop computers are those computers which have different desktop computer cases that can be laid on the desk and they are different from tower computers on the basis of design.These days the desktop computers have different monitors and keyboards as compare to the earlier computers

Laptop Computers

                     A laptop is a personal computer designed  for mobile use.It is small and light enough to sit on a person's lap while in use.A laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer.It has a touchpad with it.Its rechargeable battery is charged from an AC adapter.

Palmtop Computers

                    A computer small enough to hold from one hand to another is caleed a palmtop computer or a handtop.These ultra small computers may have  specialized keyboards or keypads for data entry applications or have small qwert keyboards.Because of their small size most palmtop computers do not include disk drives.
