How to Ski
Many people think that snow skiing is frustrating and difficult to pick up, but you should not let this discourage you. The best advice that should be given to a first time snow skier is you will fall down. But when this happens, just pick yourself up and try again. Take as much time as you want, and take breaks if you are feeling tired.
The first skill of skiing that you should learn is how to put the gear on. Put on the ski boots first. After strapping the boots you can Click into your skis. This is very simple as the ski boots are specifically designed to attach with skis, and click when they are safe. The last equipment needed is the ski poles. The straps of the ski poles are placed around the wrist of the skier, after doing this you should proceed for the ski lift, and take a ride to reach at the top of the mountain. You can start skiing once you are reached at the top. It is advisable to ski in an “S” shape to prevent yourself from gaining too much speed.
What to wear?
Layering is very important in this game. Base layer of an under armor material or long underwear is highly recommended. This layer will help to keep your body warm on the slopes. Also use a long sleeveless T shirt, or turtleneck. It is also suggested to put on a pair of sweatpants or wind breaker pants over the long underwear. The next layer is the outer layer which is the ski jacket and the ski pant. Ski jackets and ski pants are specially designed for snow skiing. There are also some other things that are vital for snow skiing like ski goggles, gloves, pair of wool socks to keep your feet warm, ski mask, and ear warmer.
Safety Precautions:
Skiing is a dangerous game and has caused death of many people. To stay safe on the ski slopes, consider and make yourself aware with some important safety measures. The runs on ski slopes are labeled and divided on the basis of difficulty and experience level. Make sure you never try to ski down a run that you are not comfortable with or you think you would not be able to. You should stay on the paths that are groomed every night to keep yourself safe. In addition, avoid blazing your own trail; instead you should stick to the trails that are already there in order to stay safe. This will decrease the probability of hitting a tree. Be aware of your surroundings and keep in mind this is your responsibility to stay away of the skiers in front of you. It is also suggested to wear a helmet for your security. Furthermore, in case of an accident on the slopes, a phone call should be made to the ski patrol. Once the call has been made, ski petrol will reach at the scene using snowmobile within few minutes, and will provide necessary treatment to the affected person.
