Suffering through the Anticipation
Posted on Saturday September 11, 2010 By TakiX Life is rough, times are hard, I eagerly anticipate the moment the
world of sports returns from this hibernation that lasts only an
eternity of time every year. Compared to that of a teenage girl
carrying around an unborn baby, 9 months of discomfort, that feeling of
emptyness of the previous normal life, this is my the struggles that
inhibit my daily life. Exaggeration? Not one bit. The 9 innings of a
pitching duel between the top aces of baseball today, Lincecum/Holladay
or Johnson/Buckholz giving up a couple hits of overall action during a 3
hour timespan, doesn't tickle my fancy, doesn't get my adrenaline
rushing, doesn't get me as excited and my shorts wet, as say a Las Vegas
stripper, if she were to umm.... splash some water on my clothing
garments.
Days.. weeks go on, my depression has hit an all-time high yet again.
My good for nothing doctor still hasn't approved of my Xanax during
these periods of time of distraught and despair, stating that the times
when football and basketball aren't in session isn't reason enough to
cause depression. I need excitement in my life, my attempts of
watching "Girls Gone Wild" has yet to compare to what holds in store for
this year in sports.
YesSir. Bring on John Wall to the NBA court, show me what this kid can
do, will he have a rookie standout year like the one they are repeatedly
comparing his skills and abilities to, Derrick Rose. The kid, from
Kentucky, only tore it up in Vegas during the summer league. His only
lack was the start where he had some difficulties in controlling his
turnovers. I want to see what this kid can do already, put him on the
court with Agent Zero, (Arenas) and I want to see some smallball again.
The time of the bigman is a moment of the past, these guards are the
ones that are shining in the league, causing the uproar of excitement.
True you can't teach height, but taking these kids early on who will be
handling the ball on the court, playmakers, are what the teams are
starting to trend on. Makes you stop and think, Derron Williams was a
steal in that one draft, whereas Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler have yet
to find their niche on a team. So let me draft my future point guard
with my first round pick, and I'll let you take a Hasheem Thabeet. As
Evan Turner, Ohio State, should turn out just fine as well. Come this
time next year, teams will be pondering, kicking themselves, why did I
pass up on Eric Maynor, VCU.
