We, as owners, take pride in our home, so we are willing to spend a lot of our earned money to renovate our home as long as the cost is reasonable. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to improve your home, consider installing roller window shades. In fact, these shades can be a great way to complement your window treatments. They increase energy efficiency and privacy while giving your home a fresh new look.

In summer, when the weather is very hot, you can minimize the heat by lowering the window shade. You can also avoid the annoying stares you get when watching TV during the day. By using them, you can increase the life of your furniture and even maximize quality due to the protection they provide from the sun. These shades are quite easy to use and can be classified into two categories: manual and motorized roller shades.

Manual roller blinds

Just as the name suggests, manual roller shades are the basic or traditional roller shades commonly seen in homes or shops. They make use of a spring system and a pull at the bottom of the shade that can be adjusted to roll up or down.

Motorized roller blinds

This type of curtains can be controlled by a mechanism and by pressing a switch or button. This is generally used on windows that are difficult to access, such as very tall windows for large houses. Or this feature can also greatly benefit those houses that have many children, as it has been proven to be safe for children.

There are mainly three categories of motorized roller blinds. There is the solar type, decorative type and blackout roller blinds. Solar types are usually the ones that are transparent and even though they are lowered, they can still light up the room. The decors, as the name implies, are patterned and can be a great interior decoration. Blackout curtains, on the other hand, are used to provide a total blackout roman shades in the room.

The materials most used in its manufacture are fabric, vinyl and the laminated type. The thickness varies greatly depending on the type you use. Take for example; Decorative motorized roller shades are thin, while the insulating type have thicker materials.

All major motorized roller shades come with an easy-to-understand step-by-step manual and offer easy installation steps. If you are considering purchasing one, make sure the design does not conflict with the decor and furnishings in your current interior. This will make the installation more beneficial for you and your home.
