Patty Webster, an American who makes a difference

It is a well established fact that the United States of America is the most generous nation on Earth. The United States government directly gives a large amount of money and resources to other countries in the world that need them, but it is perhaps the generosity of many American citizens around the world that sometimes seems to have that direct impact. One such citizen of the United States is Patty Webster. A Detroit-born former model, Radio City usher, and adoption counselor, Webster found her calling after landing a job as an adventure tour guide in the Amazon.

When Patty took ecotourism to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, she saw first hand how poor the people of Peru were and how desperate they were for proper medical care. She even gave stitches to an Indian while reading how in a book. These experiences led her to stay in Peru but not as a tourist guide, as a person to bring medical professionals closer to the poorest of the poor. She won't be doing any of the leasing news stories in the United States, but she has represented and will continue to represent the US well to this South American nation.

What has Webster done? Through her tireless efforts she has brought other people from the United States, medical professionals, to help these poor people of Peru. Visiting teams help the people they are trying to help in nature and in Belén, the poor neighborhoods of Iquitos, Peru. This city is unique because, although it has a considerable population, there are no roads that connect it with the rest of the country. She is not trying to establish a rent-to-own franchise in this poverty-stricken area, but is trying to establish a clinic to help the people of Bethlehem.

Webster continues her efforts to bring medical supplies and equipment to the poor and concentrates on building the clinic. The government of Peru has given Amazon Promise the land it needs for the clinic. The plans are in place; now they need the resources to make the dream come true.
