How To Reach Everest Base Camp From Kathmandu

One of well-known mountain base camp trek in Nepal is the Everest base camp in Nepal. It has categorized as the 4th best trek in the world by Lonely planet. There are thousands of adventure trekkers from all around the globe enjoying with its beauty every high trekking season. There are lots of people who are dreaming of reaching the Everest base camp once their life. But, not everyone has enough time or not thinking about trekking in the high Himalayan lands with cold temperature. You don’t need to trek and can reach Everest base camp within a couple of hours from Kathmandu without physical challenges.

Hiking is a popular option of reaching Everest base camp from Kathmandu, and you can explore well the region. There are numerous hiking starting points to the Everest base camp. But, it is not compulsory to visit the bottom of the world’s highest mountain with a trek. You can fly a couple of hours to reach there from Kathmandu.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp

Salleri to Everest Base Camp

Salleri Everest base camp route is also a long hiking route. It is a new walking route compare to the other entries. It is a few days shorter than Jiri trail. There was no road to connect to Salleri and has started just a couple of years. Saleri route joins with Jiri trail in Ringmu passing Phaplu and treks ahead through Nunthala, Paiya and Surke. After that, the way joins to Luka trail in Chaurikharkha.

There are more trekkers in this route than Jiri path nowadays. People who scare with Lukla flight, planning a budget trip, they can follow this route. It is also will be nice acclimatize to encounter with high mountain elevation in Everest.

Lukla to Everest Base Camp

One of the most famous trekking entry to the Everest base camp from Kathmandu is via Lukla route. There are lots of flights operating the schedule to Lukla from Kathmandu in the high hiking season. There are a couple of hundred trekkers use this route every day.

Lukla Everest base camp trek is a 12 days trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. It takes eight days to reach the base camp with two rest days for altitude practice on the way up. If you don’t have 12 days for the trip and not interested to walk back with the same trail, you can fly out from Gorakshep on a helicopter after visiting the base camp.
