Use your home printer to make custom stickers

Modeling has been an American hobby for many years. There are innumerable varieties of models that adapt to each type of niche. Obviously, two of the biggest and most popular are model cars and airplanes. Other popular models that people like to build are models of cities, buildings, ships, and specific crafts of the time. Models are used for home decoration, as well as for school projects or competitions. Obtaining the supplies needed to complete these projects can often be expensive and difficult to come by. If you have a specific idea in mind of what you want your model to look like or a particular decal or logo that may not be available, it might be time to consider creating your own decals with your home printer. Don't limit yourself to selecting from a craft store. Use your imagination and creativity to produce a one-of-a-kind model.

You will need the following: cutting templates, glue, a craft knife, several printer ink cartridges, a ruler, and a sticker or transfer apparel.

Steps to print decals

1. Stop by your local craft store and choose the style or type of sticker paper you want to use. These sheets generally come in the standard 8 1/2 "x 11" size. Transparent and White are the two colors to choose from.

2. Cutting tools and stencils can be found at the craft or hobby store as well as at a junk-reserve supply store. Try to find a self-sealing cutting surface and buy a small fine-point craft knife.

3. Create the decal using a program or downloading images from the Internet. Google images are a great resource for all kinds of images and logos. The logos can also be downloaded from many of your favorite websites.

4. Be sure to consider the amount of printer ink the image will use, and then print it from your home computer. You can save sheets and printer ink by printing more than one image per page and printing some of the images in black. Try resizing the images to reduce the use of paper and printer ink.

5. Once you have your printed sheets, use your cutting tools and guides to cut them from the sheets. A craft knife will look more polished and professional than scissors. To avoid smudging or smudging, make sure the printer ink has had time to dry.

6. You are now ready to place them on your model. Check that the surface is clean and dry. If necessary, use glue to seal the edges.

Printing your stickers from home has great advantages over store bought stickers; the possibility of customization is one of them. The only real downside is that it uses a lot of printer ink cartridges, which can be expensive. However, creating custom decals will really make your models stand out. You will make sure you have the most original model for your school or organization contest. Use your new creations to decorate your room or fill a display case for all to see. Printing decals is as simple as finding an item you like or creating your own, the only limit is your imagination.
