Safety Measures To Keep During Stick Welding

Posted by Ronan on December 23rd, 2020

Stick welder, also known as metal arc welding, is a little complicated than the other processes. This means that if you are a beginner, it will not be easy for you to learn. While you are learning the process, you need to take care of some safety measures. These will protect you from any harm or injury. Let’s get deeper into the steps by this article:

1. Instructions: When we were kids, we used to jump right into the toy without seeing the manual. It was fine back then, but you must read the whole manual and follow the guidelines when working with such hazardous types of machinery. It is necessary because there are mentioned the measures and the proper usage which can protect you.

2. Cover yourself: The process ejects harmful ultraviolet and infrared rays. If any part of your skin is exposed to it, this can cause a lot of harm. So it will be good that you cover yourself adequately before starting and remove anything combustible.

3. Gear is essential: Gone are the days when the safety gear used to weigh too much. Now the companies are producing nice and light-weighted pieces of equipment that are more wearable. It would help if you did not work without wearing it. Even short clothes are a big no. Also, use gloves and pliers; this will protect you from any harm.

4. Mask: First of all, you should not do welding in a suffocated area; there should be proper ventilation. After this, you should wear respiratory masks or other masks while working because the process produces hazardous gases that are harmful to your health.

5. No direct contact to light: Wear the welding helmet and use safety glasses or ear protection. Even the slightest of contact can cause harm to your eyes. This is why you should not look directly at the light.

It is neither easy nor safe to weld. But with proper safety measures, you can do this without hurting yourself.
