This college came into being in 1986 and was set up in BG Nagar with the idea of giving medical education to the people living in rural areas. The admission in this college for the undergraduate program is possible with the age of 17 years and if one acquires 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 12th standard of education. The students must qualify in the entrance test conducted from All India level or the Karnataka state. Management quota seats are also available in this college. Adicunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences offers 150 seats for the undergraduate courses where one studies for 4and half years and does 1 year of rotator internship. The curriculum of the course is well distributed and one gets sufficient time to understand and master each subject of study. First twelve months in the college require one to study subjects like Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The next 18 months study includes subjects like Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine. One has to study subjects like Community Medicine, ENT and Ophthalmology for the next 12 months and Medicine, Pediatrics, OBG and Surgery for the last 12 months. Adicunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science is situated in a huge campus containing both the college and the hospital. There is more space for further expansion of the institute and the rooms where lectures are conducted are huge and well ventilated. Hospital buildings are also spacious and well maintained. Lecture halls and demonstration regions are well equipped with LCD projectors, speakers, microphones and other audio visual aids. The auditorium is present in the campus that can accommodate about 2000 people at a time. Examination halls are also huge and comfortable.
