How is the JET Entrance Test the best way to evaluate prospects?

JET 2020 is an entrance examination held by Jain University, Bangalore for admission to various UG and PG courses. The full form of JET is the Jain Entrance Test. You can find the application form for the JET entrance test on the website itself. The aspirant candidates can fill up the application form for the exam on the official website before the 3rd week of April. The exam will be held in the online mode as well as offline mode. It is advised to go through the eligibility criteria before filling up the form.

JET Entrance highlight

 

The name of the examination is Jain Entrance Test. It is conducted by Jain University, Bangalore. The question paper will consist of a total of four sections - English, Physics, Chemistry, and mathematics and the medium will be English. Only Multiple choice questions come in the examination.

 

JET 2020 schedule

 

  • B. Tech course - The application form is available from the month of November and the last date for the submission of the form is the 3rd week of April. The examination is held in April. The counseling process starts in the 3rd week of April.

 

  • UG course - The application form is available from November and the last date for submission is the 2nd week of April. The examination will be held in the month of April and the counseling will start from the month of May.

 

  • PG course - The application form is available in September and the last date of form submission is the 1st week of January. The exam is held in January and the counseling starts from the month of March.

Syllabus for B. Tech

Physics- Geometric Optics (Refraction at the prism, plane, and spherical surface), Physical optics (interference, diffraction, polarisation and speed of light), Electrostatic, Capacitors, current electricity, EMI, Atomic physics, scattering of light, Radioactivity, Elementary particles, solid-state Electronics and Soft condensed materials.

Chemistry - Metallurgy, Group 18 elements, Noble gases, D block elements, Coordination compounds, Chemical Bonding, Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, Solution, Thermodynamics, Colloids, and Organic chemistry.

Mathematics - Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Vectors, Geometry, Trigonometry, Inverse trigonometric functions, Complex numbers, Differential calculus, Integral calculus, and Differential equations.

Syllabus for UG (except B. Tech) and PG program

Essay writing - Topics that frequently come on entrance tests.

Basic Mathematics - all the questions will be based on the class 12 syllabus including Average, simple and compound interest, percentage, profit and loss, Ratio, Percentage, and stocks, and share.

Current affairs - Refer to business magazines, newspapers, articles, and journals. 

 

JET 2020 exam pattern

The JET entrance test is held both in online and offline mode. For B. Tech, there will be 30 questions from each subject - Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Aptitude and logical reasoning, and English. You will be given 20 minutes for each one.

For UG courses, 20 mark questions will come from each subject - Essay, Subject-based questions, and Basic Mathematics. For current affairs related to selecting the topic, the total marks will be 40. The same pattern applies to the PG courses too.

 

JET 2020 exam cut off

The cut off mark keeps on changing every year. It varies as per the course, number of candidates, availability of seats, earlier cut off trends, and exam difficulty level. The result gets released soon after the exam.

JET eligibility criteria

The university authorities set the eligibility criteria for the JET entrance exam.

For B. Tech course;

  • 10+2 pass out with compulsory subjects Physics and mathematics along with any of these subjects (Biology/Biotechnology/Chemistry/Technical vocational subject).
  • The students should get at least 60% of the mentioned subjects. 

For UG courses:

  • The candidate should have passed 12.
  • The candidate should have qualified from a recognized university.
  • The candidate should get at least 60% in the last institution. 

PG courses;

  • The candidate should pass his/her bachelor degree

The candidate should get at least 50% in the final qualifying exam
