Dates are an important traditional crop cultivated in Iraq, Arabia, North Africa and Morocco. Egypt is considered to be the largest producer of dates globally. The botanical name of dates is Phoenix Dactylifera.
The date palm trees usually grow to a height of 21-23 m (69-75 ft). Date fruit is sweet in taste and when dried it contains about 75% sugar. Depending on the variety, the color of the dates may be slightly reddish-yellow or white and black. Dates on palm trees grow in bunches.

Dates have a good amount of minerals, so it is considered very beneficial for strengthening bones. It also helps in relieving pain caused by disease like osteoporosis.
