For LED and other solid-state lighting, CRI color rendering index is often unable to describe the parameters of light color perfectly. Therefore, many other parameters, such as CQS and GAI, have been proposed to reinforce CRI, but each parameter is not perfect, especially for the application of film and television lighting.

The TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) was developed by Alan Roberts and has been endorsed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
