This document can help you resolve problems that occur while you playback, record, or monitor in Adobe Audition 3 and 2. Recording problems can manifest themselves in several diverse ways, including (but not limited to) the following:Quality of recorded sound is inferior. Audio is tracked through the system but the recorded audio file remains empty. Delay in playback while recording. Delay in playback while monitoring incoming sound. Different factors can cause playback or recording problems, including conflicts among device drivers, applications, and hardware, and corrupt elements in specific files. Though some problems happen only when you work with Adobe Audition, Adobe Audition isn't always the cause. It may be the only application that's memory-intensive or processor-intensive sufficient to expose the issue. To benefit most from this document, perform the tasks in order. Record the activities you perform along with the outcomes of each, including errors or other problems. Adobe Technical Support can use this information to help you, if you telephone. Audio Latency is the time that an audio signal takes to pass out of the sound card input into the sound cards output. The sound signal is digitized, routed through Adobe Audition, and processed with any effects applied.
Then it's converted back to analog form at the sound card outputs. Each of these steps contributes to the audio latency, which is measured in milliseconds (ms). Existing audio (sound files already on a monitor at the Multitrack) doesn't exhibit the same amount of latency since the tracks are already digitized. Back in Adobe Audition, this discrepancy in playback delay, involving present tracks and monitoring inputs, is where latency is most noticeable. Latency over 10 milliseconds may produce an audible delay involving playback of existing monitoring and tracks. Although buffer configurations (see step 8 below) can help reduce latency, the plan of this hardware device driver and the amount of impacts processing may potentially make monitoring difficult (or corrupted ). In case the device driver on your sound card does not allow a low enough latency, then it is likely that you can't track while recording. It's also possible that you demand a brand new sound card with low latency device drivers (for instance, an ASIO audio card). Greater than 10 ms - allows real-time observation of incoming tracks including effects. In 10 ms - latency may be discovered but may still sound natural and is usable for tracking. Ms - tracking starts to become ineffective, smearing of the actual sound source, along with the monitored output is evident. Ms - postponed sound begins to sound like an actual delay rather than a part of the original signal. Note: The human ear is used to latency because it occurs naturally from the planet around us.
