People who use Instagram will always have more followers. If they are new, they will have more followers, and if they have been using Instagram for years, they will have more followers.

You can also gain more followers by looking at hashtag trends and posting a picture that fits that trend. For example, if you know that many people post POTD tags (picture of the day), then you can post a picture on the same trend.

It can be whatever you want and many people will see it. Once you have written with this tag a few times, you will notice that people who like pictures of the day are starting to add you as their friend. Your exposure has doubled.
