Medical admission in Karnataka is provided on passing the entrance test

Karnataka has a number of well known Medical Colleges with all facilities and many students from different parts of India get admission here. There are Government Medical Colleges as well as private colleges at all the important cities in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore, the capital of the state, Mysore, Bijapur, Belgaum, Mangalore etc. The eligibility to get Medical admission in Karnataka is that the student has to pass pre-university or 12th standard, or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as well as English taken as one of the languages. He/she should get an aggregate of minimum 50% on the examination and should have completed 17 years of age. The student also has to appear for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) or COMEDK. Only students of Karnataka state are allowed to appear for KCET and students from other parts of India are allowed to sit for COMEDK exam.

The application form and the brochure for sitting for the exam is available at the schools and colleges in Karnataka on submitting a DD for Rs.550 drawn in the favor or’ The Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore’. You have to submit the Demand Draft to the principal of the college or the school. The application form is available on the 1st week of March and the last date for online submission is from the middle of April. KCET exam is conducted in the first week of May and the results are published by the end of May. Once the result is out, the procedures for Karnataka medical colleges admissions start.

Once you pass the entrance test, you will get Medical admission in Karnataka and may choose various branches, like MBBS, Dental, Unani, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Neuropathy etc. the medical colleges in Karnataka have large campuses, well equipped and spacious classrooms, well stocked libraries, hospitals, separate hostels for boys and girls, canteen, well equipped laboratories and much more.. The students are encouraged to take part in a number of other events, like sports, debates, quiz programs, cultural programs, etc. this way an overall development of the students is ensured. Since the colleges are attached to hospitals, the students get excellent practical knowledge besides theoretical knowledge.

Karnataka medical colleges admissions are also available in management quota in private medical colleges. Here a small percentage of seats is kept reserved under the management quota and eligible students who did not get on merit are given admission. The fee for this quota is much higher and only those who can afford may get admission in this way. There is also an NRI quota for the NRI students.
