Organic Air Freshener ? Safe and Healthy

These days, there are harmful chemicals in almost everything we use, from the washing soap to the gel air freshener. If you are a very health-conscious person who loves using eco-friendly things at home and work place, then you should definitely think of organic air fresheners.

With almost all places having a centralized air conditioning system, there is virtually no ventilation to bring natural air inside the house. Living in the city amidst all the pollution, opening doors and windows will possibly only bring in more harmful substances than healthy air. The only other option you can go for is to use natural substances as air fresheners. There are numerous household things that you can use as natural organic air fresheners.

Flavored oils
You will probably be having some type of flavored oils at home. You can also use natural bath oils to prepare the air freshener. From spruce and lavender to rose, there are many scented essential oils available in the market. Just add a few drops of the scented oil in a bottle of water and spray it around the house. An instant way to create a good-smelling room.

Potpourri
If you have time and inclination, you can make your very own potpourri. Collect scented flowers and leaves and air dry them in shade. Pack them all in a container with holes on the body walls. Most traditional potpourris have cloves, jasmine flowers and oil, orange peels, rose flowers or oil, rosemary leaves or flowers, lemon leaves or flowers, lavender, fennel and many other substances. You can also spray your favorite scent into the potpourri, so you will have the scent lingering in the room.

Coffee Grounds
Love your cuppa? Then you’ll definitely like this organic air freshener. Take some used or fresh coffee grounds and dry them. Then put them in a cup or an old socket, and hang it in the place where you want the musty odor removed.

Gel Air Freshener
You can also make your own air freshener using gel. It is very simple. Just dissolve about 4 to 5 packs of unflavored gelatin in water and gently heat it. Then take it off from the stove, add some concentrated fragrance or essential oils, some mold inhibitor like salt or vodka. Pour the concentrate into a container of your choice and then cool it in the refrigerator. Your natural gel air freshener is ready!
