It’s the rule of living a healthy that no matter how strong you are you will get ill at some point and so you will need help to recover. The same way everyone needs a little bit of support sometimes whether we are a sportsman, an athlete or just a normal person trying to stay fit, Athletic tapes comes to the rescue. Athletic tapes provide support to those parts of the body which get easily sprained during exercise session, like our ankles. These are applied just before an exercise and taken off just after. Some trainers recommend that the tape should be used as a preventive measure while others suggest its use only after an injury.

These athletic tapes are designed to be tough so that they can fulfil their purpose of protection. These comes in with different widths and varieties like moisture-resistant, pre-wrap elastic, adhesive or non- adhesive to be the right choice for one’s condition. These tapes also stabilize and compress injured tissues. In sports like basketball, football and volleyball there is high rate of incidence of ankle injuries which can result in loss of time away from the field or court making the person’s fitness an issue? To protect this ankle injury an Ankle brace is attire that is worn around the ankle after an injury to protect it from any further injury, movement of ankle and allowing it to heal. The ankle recovers quickly with the heat and compression given to the bones by ankle brace. They are made up of fabric such as nylon and neoprene allowing a limited potency of the ankle and acknowledge the ankle with the help of a Velcro.

But there arrives one question whether one should prefer athletic tape or ankle brace? Both are effective taping and bracing and have their respective advantages. To know the importance of both experts applied brace on one ankle and on the other taping. In taping the quality of tape as well as the experience of the person applying the tape is taken into consideration. The tape job will begin to lose during the exercise no matter how good the job is done. On the other foot, bracing is done and it is as effective as taping but giving itself an advantage over taping by frequently readjusting it throughout practice as per comfort and support. According to a study published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, athletic tape loosens up to 40% after only ten minutes of exercise.
