Cracking the MCQs in Your Dental PG Entrance Exams

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are every entrance exam aspirant’s nightmare. When you look at them first, these multiple choice questions may look very easy. Take a look at the options, you will feel that all the four options are correct or all the four are wrong. Every student would have definitely faced this scenario. If you can crack the MCQs in your dental PG entrance exams, you stand in good stead of performing well in the examination.

One very important thing that you should remember is that you require an in-depth knowledge of the subject in order to attend the questions. Rote study and memorizing data will not be helpful when it come to answering such questions. When you are preparing for such sections, you should first know the subjects and topics that you are strong in and the ones that you are not very confident in. If you take a look at the question paper pattern, you will know that even in multiple choice questions, each subject/topic will be allotted a particular number of marks. Find out which subject has the greatest percentage of importance and accordingly prepare for the medical PG entrance exams. It doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of time and effort on subjects which could have very less scope of importance in the exam.

Another factor that you should take into consideration is negative marking. Some entrance exams favor negative marking. In such cases, you should be very careful in attending the questions. Unless, you are 100 percent sure that the answer is correct, don’t attempt to attend that particular question. If there are no negative scores, then no worries. Go ahead and answer all the questions.

Practice is the key to solving multiple choice questions. Collect as many previous year dental PG entrance exam question papers as you can. Set up a timetable and answer all the MCQs in the question paper. Keep a track of the timing, not just for the entire multiple choice section, but also of the time you require to complete each question. Don’t spend more than a couple of minutes on each question. If you spend a lot of time on the choice questions, you will find it difficult to complete the entire question paper in the given time frame.

MCQ questions in your medical PG entrance exams could become a determining factor of your pass or fail. Though simple in looks, they are seriously difficult to answer. So, be calm, trust your instinct and answer the questions.
