Everyone gets an injury whether you are sports man or just a normal exercising person. But the question is what should one do if he/she gets a severe injury? One should first of all apply either Cold Therapy or Hot Therapy. These two methods have their own importance and are both very effective. But which Therapy should be applied? Which will be more effective? The answer depends on the type of injury. If there is internal bleeding and swelling taking place then we use Cold therapy. Also known as Cryotherapy. There are many methods of cold therapy.

When we hurt ourselves the first thing we think of is ice. The reason for this is that ice is cold and will help to prevent or reduce swelling at the site of the injury. Since, it can be made at home, easily available, cheap and very effective. Therefore Ice Cold Therapy is a very effective therapy for treatment of Injury at cooler temperatures. Cooling the injured area immediately after an injury relieves pain and reduces swelling and bleeding. The ice is applied in form of ice bags. Ice cubes or crushed ice are then placed in the bag and applied directly on the injury.

There are Hot and Cold Therapy Packs which one can apply as per his/her injury. Heat Therapy Pack is primarily for those who experience muscle and joint pain, and for stress relief. The hot heat packs opens up the blood vessels and thus blood flows with more oxygen and nutrients through it and reduces the pain. But, one should never apply hot therapy pack at any type of wound or injury. The Cold Therapy Packs are applied to stop the swelling and bleeding form an injury. Generally Cold Therapy is applied to injured areas for 20 minutes at a time, remove the pack for 10 minutes and then again reapply. Ice cold treatment should be used for 24 to 48 hours after an injury.

Athletes require energy to keep up their performance before, during and after the sport. But, this energy requirement is not fulfilled by just drinking water so one requires something else to fulfil this necessity.
