Detroit: A Place for Knowledge and Entertainment

Detroit is comparatively the largest city in the Midwest side of Michigan. Not required to mention that Michigan is already a popular site of educational institutions. Research works and university degrees from the universities of Michigan is prestigious enough. If you ever wish to visit Detroit for educational purpose you must know where to stay in Detroit. 

However, it is not only for educational purposes that people visit Detroit, but the city is also a marvelous tourist destination. It is surrounded by parks, rivers, and entertainment places that not only entertain the adults, but also are a perfect form of entertainment for kids and youngsters. 

Belle Isle Island

Belle Isle Island is situated in the Detroit River. As Isle, the name suggests, it is a small island that has a length of 3 miles and a breadth of 1 mile. On this little island there comes plenty of visitors throughout the year. This is a fabulous place for hikers and for the ones who enjoy long walks. The parkland that is on the island is fascinating. Various types of sporting activities are enjoyed in the island. The island is still not exhausted to offer you entertainment. You can enjoy a historical venture in the Great Lake Museum that exhibits commercial shipping on the lake.

Detroit Public Library

Opened in 1865 the library has a collection of 5,000 books. All these books were previously sealed in the old Capital High School building. Much later, the library was updated and moved in 1921 after which it became the Pride of Detroit. The library has an alluring interior and an imposing exterior. It has become a historic place under the United States National Register of Historic Places.

Fort Wayne

It is situated in West Jefferson and it dates back to 1840. One can find military barracks, tunnels and dry moats, and an amazing parade ground. There is also a long stone building that once was reserved for the Commanding Officer’s House. Whenever you visit this place you get to find an event of some kind or the other, especially in the months of summer.

Renaissance center

You would surely be awestruck by a look at the Renaissance center. It is the epicenter of the city. You can just stand and be amazed at the 7 towers, among which lies the 73 storied Marriott hotels. In this significant location, there are several shopping centers, theatres, and restaurants that give you a break from the continuous movement.

You can have a beautiful and pleasant tour of the estate. You will find man-made lakes, five hundred birdhouses, and a hydropower station. There are beautiful pony houses too.
