Did you decide to paint yourself? Then you should know that interior paint adheres better to the perfectly prepared smooth surface of the ceiling and walls. Use a brush for the first coat, a roller or a spray gun pays off on larger areas. You will also benefit from various decorative techniques. How to do it?

cleaning soon following painting is very awkward and time consuming. It's hard for us to eradicate the paint stains from our floors. Expert painters utilize specific solutions to eradicate such stains. Furthermore, the whole cleansing of your house later painting is susceptible to the Roof Painting Services of specialist paint businesses.

Before we decide to transform the interior with a new painting, we will take a good look at the areas of the walls. Sometimes it is enough to get rid of dust. Older walls usually require more thorough preparation.

Lots of color

Information on the probable consumption of paint can be found on the packaging or in the technical data sheet of the product. It is calculated from the area of painted surfaces and data on the average yield, ie how many m2 determined from – to we paint with one liter of a specific paint.

Coarser surfaces require more paint - in this case, we follow the lower recommended yield limit. E.g. with the same amount of paint, we cover a much larger area of??smooth plasterboard compared to the grainy surface of the internal plaster.

A smaller coating thickness is usually sufficient to cover light colors:

What to paint

The paintbrush is usually flat or round, used for the first coat. When buying, we check whether it has the same thick bristles at the handle and at the top. The bristles of the same length absorb the paint well.

Soak a brush in the paint for about one third, wipe the overflowing paint on the edge of the container, on the grid. The brush strokes partially overlap, similarly we apply brushes in the corners, around windows, doors, etc.

The roller on the telescopic rod facilitates the painting of large areas. The fine type creates a smooth surface on the wall, the coarser coating and longer fibers are suitable for creating plastic effects.

We paint the ceiling in parallel strokes perpendicular to the wall with windows, similar to brush painting. On the walls, after a vertical stroke in the middle of the surface, we spread the color with oblique strokes to the letter V. The final strokes are again vertical, they overlap the places where the roller is used.

Spray gun with pressure compressor is suitable for larger areas and denser colors. For spraying thinner colors and smaller areas, we choose a hand-held syringe.

The working pressure, the size and shape of the nozzle and the dilution of the paint are selected according to the data of the paint manufacturer, or according to the instructions for the spraying equipment. When working, we maintain the correct distance and speed of movement of the pistol.

Decorative techniques

The dull technique creates a plastic cloud effect on the wall. We apply the paint already on a painted smooth or thicker wall with a blunt sponge, which we can also get in a drugstore. First, paint the surface of the wall with one shade.

After the paint has dried, pour a slightly darker shade into a flat tray and immerse the moistened natural sponge in the paint. Spray the excess and apply the sponge to the wall surface. We keep turning it so that the prints don't repeat too much. The more we blunt over each other, the denser the structure will be. We can also use a blunt brush.

The winding technique uses a roller with wound leather. First, apply paint to the non-absorbent surface with a paint roller. Then we structure the still moist paint with a roller with wound leather. Thanks to the wrapped leather, the paint is partially compressed to the side and lighter spots appear on the substrate.

The wiping technique creates a several mm thicker fibrous pattern on the wall. We can apply undiluted trowel plaster to the wall with a stainless steel trowel, which we then spread evenly from the bottom up. Alternatively, painted plaster can be chosen. Apply it evenly to the surface of the wall with a paint roller or paint brush. We structure it with a flat brush within 20 minutes.

Don't forget the tapes and foils

Before you start painting, cover the furniture with foil. Protect floor moldings, door frames, window frames, switches and sockets with masking tape, floors with corrugated cardboard or textile absorbent cover foil.
