There are numerous premier medical colleges in India where you can apply to. Most of these renowned medical colleges have their own entrance examination and syllabus of study. Before you start preparing for your pre medical entrance exams, take a look at this partial list of medical entrance exams in India. 1. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) One of the top medical institutes in India, All India Institute of Medical Sciences is perhaps the best place to study medicine. But getting into this premier institute can be very difficult, not only because of the high standards it sets, but also because of the serious level of competition you will have to face. The number of seats is just 70, but nearly more than 8000 students apply for the entrance exam every year. So, you can imagine how much competition you will have. The last date for application submission will usually be in march and the exams are conducted in July. Eligibility Criteria: Passed 12th standard or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in physics, chemistry, English and biology. 2. Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore Down south, most medical aspirants will try to join the Christian Medical College in Vellore. It is affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University at Chennai. This medical college offers both under graduation and post graduation courses in medicine. Here again, the college has 70 seats and receives thousands of applications for the pre medical entrance exam. The last date for submitting completed applications is usually mid April, while the exams are generally held during the second week of May. Eligibility Criteria: The aspirant should have scored a minimum of 60% each in biology, physics and chemistry. 3. Jawaharlal Institute Of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Located in the union territory of Pondicherry, the Jawaharlal Institute Of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research is another top college that medical aspirants want to study in. JIPMER has 100 seats, out of which 82 are selected via the entrance exam. The test pattern includes 200 multiple choice questions from botany, zoology, English, chemistry and physics. One good news is that there is no negative marking. Eligibility Criteria: The aspirant should have a minimum of 50% marks in physics, biology and chemistry.
