British Columbia has decided to extend the Tech Pilot program under BCPNP till June 2021. This is to provide an edge for the BC employers to employ the right personnel with right skill set to help them address skill shortage they face. British Columbia strongly believes that the economy of British Columbia can be safe secure and progressive in nature, only when there is a strong working and collaborative set of people in the province. With the intention to attract the right individuals in technology, British Columbia started the Tech Pilot program under British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

British Columbia intends to build a strong tech force to address their requirements. In the same lines, BC provides training for the students and also creates job opportunities as would be required. BC has been largely successful in their pursuit of skilled professionals in the IT field through this project. The BC tech pilot program expedites the process. It’s a fast track program ensuring that the qualifying candidates would earn their Canada Permanent Residency.

British Columbia has declared 29 job opportunities under the Tech Pilot program. Aspirants looking to relocate to BC as a tech skilled professional will register themselves under the program. The BC employers will have access to these aspirants. There is a dedicated team of migration authorities appointed by BCPNP for this program. Most of the applications under this category will be processed in 2 to 3 months. This is much faster than any of the Canada Skilled Immigration programs.

It requires that the employers choosing their candidates provide a job offer for a minimum of 365 days. For the applicant to receive an “Invitation to Apply”, both the employer and employee should comply with the regulations issued under this program. The job offer should be a full-time opportunity. This is unique since the province itself does not bind the aspirant to stay in the province for indeterminate period of time. This does not mean that the aspirant cannot hold a job offer longer than the period. This program will run alongside the other BCPNP programs. The program is unique in comparison to other Provincial Nominee Programs.

The process –

  •          Applicant will need to register online after thorough evaluation of the profile
  •          Tech draw will be conducted every week
  •          Once the applicant receives Invitation to Apply, they need to submit their application along with related documents within 30 days
  •          After which the applicant will be issued with a nomination from British Columbia
  •          On basis the nomination, the applicant can proceed to apply for Permanent residency with Canada.
  •          Applicants who have met the conditions, will be first issued with a work permit, with which they can immediately start working in British Columbia for their employer till the next step falls into place.

In 2021, many provinces in Canada have come up with programs to enhance their workforce keeping in mind the current trends.  Their main aim is to attract the right personnel who could actively contribute to the growth of the province. Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial nominee program is one such program that has shifted its focus to attracting the right economic contributors into the province.

In the long run, it is always safe to work with right immigration consultancy firm who are also registered with the ICCRC. Such registered firms will have complete knowledge about the immigrations in Canada. Canada has more than 70 immigration pathways and each of which is a solution for different category of needs. The biggest turning point for successful navigation is the kind of association the aspirant undertakes to fulfill his or her dreams.
