Preparing for PG Medical Entrance Exams ? Group Studies Vs Solo Studies
Posted by arun on July 16th, 2014
Most students of medicine generally start preparing for the PG medical entrance exams sometime in the third or fourth year of their medical studies. The final year will be very busy as they will have to complete their internship and will have back to back rotational shifts in the hospital. During the first two years of medical school, students take time to settle into the routine and understand the expectations and the challenges of studying medicine. After they have completed the first couple of years in college, they will have an idea of their strengths and weakness. The students will be able to judge the subjects that they are strong in and the subjects they find very difficult. Once they get a grasp of all these aspects, and still decide to pursue their higher education in medicine, they start thinking about the entrance examinations.
While preparing for entrance exams for medical courses in the post graduation degree, most students will have the dilemma whether to study independently or go for group studies. Both methods of studying have their ups and downs, pros and cons. Before opting to go for group or solo studies, each student has to evaluate their methods of studying.
Some students will like to have a support system when they are preparing for their PG medical entrance exams. For such students, group studies are a good option. When many students study together, one student who is strong in a particular concept or subject can help the others learn it easily. The same way, if one student is weak in a particular subject, he or she will be able to get help from the person who excels in that subject. Moreover, group studies will also help students to plan and execute their planning better.
Individual studies are a better option for students who like to work at their own pace and study in their own way. For those students, who may feel distracted when others are around, solo studies are the best option. These students are used to being alone and generally work at a pace that others may find it difficult to keep up with. Moreover, these students will have a good idea of what they will expect in their PG medical entrance exams, and will be very clear about outcome. But, the most important fact that every student has to keep in mind, whether he/she goes for group or solo studies, is that good planning is the key to success in any entrance exam preparation. Also See: Entrance Exams, Solo Studies, Pg Medical, Medical Entrance, Studies, Students, Medical
