Wall heaters are the equipment designed in such a way that you can install them on the walls of your apartment or home. These units provide sufficient amount of heat; enough to keep a small area warm. Besides, they do not require even a single inch of your floor space. Quite naturally, they are the favorite of those for whom space is always a concern. Wall heaters fall into two general groups; gas and electric wall heater.

Gas heaters - These are ideal if you want to heat a small area in your home or apartment. When compared to the electric heaters, heating units functioning on gas are cost-effective. However, the bi-products of gas heaters may force you to compromise with regard to the quality of the air in the room. Having an idea of ventless and vented heaters is a must if you wish to make a wise choice.

Ventless heaters - Ventless gas heaters do not need air from the outside to make your room warm. For this reason, you do not have to build a chimney to increase its efficiency. They are less expensive than their vented variants. Fuel efficiency is another advantage ventless gas heating units offer. However, these do not come free of cost. The bi-products of these units may be hazardous for your health. And, experts advise great caution when installing them.

You should always opt for a ventless heater designed in the recent years. Reports show that gas heaters designed in 1980’s is equipped with an oxygen depletion system. The unit goes off when the level of oxygen falls below the recommended limit. It is also recommended that you should install a carbon monoxide detector along with a ventless gas heater.

Vented heaters

Vented gas heaters make use of the air from the outside to heat an area. They are also quite expensive when compared to their ventless counterparts. They require proper ventilation to function smoothly. However, these units are good for your health; they vent the bi-products like carbon monoxide to outside.

Electric heaters

Electric heaters are now increasing in popularity. A heating unit of the kind consists of a body made of metal and a heating element. The current flowing through the unit heats it and it comes out providing warmth in the area where it is established. There are two types of heaters; convection and radiant. The former would have a motorized fan distributing the heat all around. The latter is equipped with a coil and a panel which sits at the back of the unit reflecting the heat.

Electric heating units are ideal if yours is a small apartment. Just install a unit between two walls in a room; it becomes warmer within no time. But, keep in mind that heating units designed to be installed on walls are ideal only for small areas. If yours is a large home, you would have to go for a central heating unit.

Your options are vast when it comes to wall heater. Do a research and go for the one you feel would work for you. For more on prices and available models to order click here.
