In the IT field spanning the last decade or so, decision management systems have played a rather important role in upping the productivity of various companies. The four major stages that the system looks into are – intelligence, structure, decision (choice) and the implementation.

In a Decision Support System, one of the most important things that need to be taken care of is the ease of using the system. While the makers of the system will be well versed with dealing with the technical folds of the system, those who do not have such high expertise, or the people from non-technical backgrounds are not slated to be in the helm of dealing with the technicalities of the system. This is one of the major reasons of the decision review system firing on all cylinders when it comes to ease of use. Thus, the ones that deal with the computer directly are exempted from having thorough technical knowledge as a pre-requisite.

The capacity to access the system should not rest with only a part of the employee strength in the organization. Everybody shall be given equal support in handling the decision making system or benefiting from it. The resource can be distributed among all the people working under the roof. Access to key functionalities can however be restricted to only the key members in the organizations.

Speaking in conformity with strict literary order, an ideal DSS shall not be referred to as a system. This is something that goes rather against the term. Instead, the process should a highly adaptive one that generates decision support at the behest of the user. The user shall be able to make haste with designing prototypes related to data support. These designed prototypes should be in strict conformity with each task that has to make do with decision making. The efficacy of the decision management systems is to be determined by how quickly it can adapt to decision making changes in an event where the user wants to modify the initial bit of assistance.
