Tucked away in the lap of the great Himalayas, somewhere in the corner, is the state of Sikkim. This extremely beautiful state is home to the third highest mountain in the world: Kanchenjunga. Sikkim may be the second smallest state in India, but when it comes to beautiful valleys, it’s high up on the list of best places to visit in India. And if you are planning a trip to Sikkim, here are 5 extremely beautiful places that you must visit:

  1. Gangtok

The alluring charm of the capital of Sikkim is irresistible. Located in the eastern Himalayas, the city has gurgling rivers and lush green forests. It is as much a place for solo tourists as it is for a couple on their honeymoon. You can easily find the best Gangtok honeymoon packages that will give you and your partner’s married life a pleasant start.

  1. Yuksom

If the city life is not what you desire, then Yuksom, right next to Gangtok, is equally beautiful. Once the capital of Sikkim, Yuksom has several treks that lead to and around Kanchenjunga. Because it’s not as popular as Gangtok and is located right next to it, this is where people go when they want quietude. It’s a place that seems untouched by city life and it makes people just visit, relax, and do nothing.

   3.Tsomgo Lake

Tsomgo is one of the highest lakes India at an altitude of 12000 ft. When you are visiting Sikkim, or Gangtok specifically, do make a visit to the Tsomgo lake. Also known by the name of Changu lake, it is located 38 km from Gangtok. Because it’s located at a great altitude, it is popular for staying frozen throughout the winters. In summers, however, with the direct sunlight falling on it, the lake seems to have an aura of magic around it. The moment you see the lake, you are at peace with yourself. The day would pass with no noise and in a snap. You will want to revisit this place again and again.

  1. Nathula Pass

When you are visiting Sikkim, one of the places that you cannot and should not miss is the Nathula Pass, also known as Nathu La. Once a part of the historic Silk Road, Nathula Pass is one of the highest motor passes in India. The pass connects Sikkim to Tibet. Although the pass is open to the Indian nationals, they have to obtain permission from the local tourism department. Note: Photography isn’t allowed in the pass, and be wary of the winding roads.

  1. Lachung

Lachung is known as the snow destination of Sikkim because of the most annual snowfall. And because of this reason, the place is untouched. You can book a comfortable hotel in Lachung and enjoy all the natural beauty that this place has to offer. Within minutes of visiting it, the hill station will steal your heart away.

There is no shortage of places to visit in Sikkim. And if you are visiting it, make sure to go to the aforementioned places. You will not want to go back home.
