An Indian film under 180 minutes? Who, instead of tearful singing and colorful dance interludes, sends young Indian women out onto the field in a sporting competition in order to experience self-confidence and team spirit in equal measure? The film has to

Of 123movie , it's not entirely without drama, at least once in the film Schmachtkönig Khan has to tickle the tear glands. Here he does this on his dishonorable dismissal from the national hockey team after missing the decisive blow in the final of the World Cup, against Pakistan of all places. The celebrated star player Kabir Khan not only has to leave the team, but also his home and withdraws completely under the shame of suspicion of having deliberately missed it for money. Seven years later, preparations for the World Cup are back and Khan senses his chance to be able to rehabilitate himself with a success. However, he does not want to be on the field himself, nor with the men. In order to prove his heart for his homeland India, he wants to turn a chaotic pile of chickens into the Indian national team for women and win the world championship with it. What is dismissed as ridiculed phantasy gets its chance. With consistent discipline, he awakens a sporting and team spirit that makes everything possible in the initially bitchy, clumsy or clumsy young ladies after enormous resistance. It is not only the officials who find women in sportswear both ridiculous and indecent who put obstacles in the way of the goal. It is also the personalities who have come here with very different expectations and who have to defend their dream against the most varied of reservations. There is the future husband, who sees his fiancée's sport at best as a nice pastime, there are the parents with excessive pressure to succeed or the in-laws, whose traditional image does not fit a woman with a career of her own. Last but not least, the girls also have to overcome themselves in order to win as a team. Personal animosities and overconfidence jeopardize success again and again - until the exciting finale. This David versus Goliath story is not unknown to Hollywood cinema and doesn't offer much new in that regard. The most exciting thing about it is to apply the “against all odds” attitude to Indian social structures. With a whole hockey team there is not enough space for the individual characters to really go into depth, which is made up for by the versatility of the topics addressed. It's not really subversive, the very sensitive topics are left out. This makes the peculiar balancing act between modernity and tradition, in which India has been for some time, all the clearer. Of course, this applies above all to the role of women, who are increasingly freeing themselves from their domestic sari and becoming independent. Not seeing Shak Rukh Khan as a singing and dancing heartbreaker is pleasant and gives him the opportunity to discover new facets. However, he doesn't always know how to use it, his greatest contribution to this lively film with a dash of emancipation is, whether deserved or not, to lure well-deserved viewers into the cinemas with his name. The squad of young actresses demonstrates both sporting and acting talent and thus plays the Indian superstar pretty against the wall. Covering the true story of India's national women's hockey team, the film tells more than the myth of the American dream that anyone can do anything. He tells of how young Indian women free themselves from their role model and emancipate themselves in a painless and smooth skin. And after all, that is not little for a film country from which we usually only reach the splendidly staged celebration of traditions. The feel-good factor draws on “Cahkde! India ”, not least thanks to a rousing title song, and is warmly recommended for a women’s evening, where the men can also have fun. Everyone can sing along afterwards.
