5 Virtues of The Proverbs 31 Woman

Myth, role model, intimidation. The Proverbs 31 woman is an inspiration to many Christian women. To some a good inspiration, to some not so good. Either way, we know her and admire her. And thanks to many proverbs bible verses we are now instructed how to become godly women.

But what makes the Proverbs 31 woman so influential? Why do we feel like we have to follow her footsteps when she may have had a very different life from ours? In this blog post, I’m sharing the 5 virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman that will inspire you.

1. She is hardworking

The Proverbs 31 woman is a businesswoman that works hard. She wakes up early to seize the day and build her businesses. She has multiple business endeavors. She is a manufacturer, importer, manager, realtor, farmer, seamstress, and merchant.

2. She has her own money

Contrary to common belief the Proverbs 31 woman is a great example of a self-sufficient woman. Thanks to her many businesses she can provide for her family and her household. She does not rely on her husband alone to go to work but can take care of her responsibilities financially.

3. She is a blessing to her husband and children

One thing that is mentioned from the very beginning is that the Proverbs 31 woman tends to her family and marriage. She knows where the true value lies and invests in the people in her life. She cultivates her own life and heart and therefore becomes a blessing to her husband, her children, and her household.

4. She is giving

Even though it is clear that the family’s social position of the Proverbs 31 woman is high, it’s important to know that she cares for the less fortunate. The bible passage says ”that she opens her arms to the poor”. Whenever I read this I am reminded of Princess Diana who used her social status and influence to bring attention and help to the people that needed it most.

5. She is a strong woman

Number 5 is by far my favorite virtue about the Proverbs 31 woman. Because so many times women are shamed when they show their strength and know-how. But this woman not so much. Her ability to figure things out and take charge allow her to bring to become a woman of virtue and wisdom.

Is it healthy to thrive to be like the Proverbs 31 woman?

My answer is no. The Proverbs 31 woman is a picture of a woman made off many women in the Bible. She is not necessarily one human being that has all these character traits.

Like many other characters in the Bible, the Proverbs 31 woman has to be admired with a grain of salt. Rather than thriving to fit in her footsteps, we should take her actions as an inspiration to the things we can do in our lives. Maybe you do not desire to be a businesswoman, but find another way to take care of your household.

There is not just one way to impersonate a godly woman.
