Is TMS Effective in Treating Depression??

What is TMS and is it effective in the treatment of depression? The truth is that TMS therapy is highly successful in the treatment of depression. However, like all medicines, TMS must be taken only under proper medical supervisions. The most widely studied of all the associated effects is the one which occurs after just one session of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TCM). Eighty-one out of the ninety-three subjects with major depression who had been on regular therapy showed positive response to TCM.so in this article we will discuss is tms safe and effective.

The most intriguing aspect about this research is that not only was TMS effective in the treatment of patients suffering from mild depression, but also it proved highly effective in the treatment of patients suffering from major depression. The patients who were given placebo did not respond as well as those who were given the real TMS device. This fact is quite significant because such a profound effect has been seen in a relatively shallow and non-invasive clinical trial. In the clinical trials of deep brain stimulation, on the other hand, the response of the patients took much longer to manifest. It took years before the positive results became evident.

Is TMS effective in the treatment of both mild and severe depression? At this point, the answer is: No. TMS does not work in the absence of a genuine clinical depression episode. A conclusive study on this issue was launched by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), after much criticism and doubts were raised on the efficacy of this type of treatment. The investigators found that despite of the absence of an episode of depression, patients who were given TMS had significantly less depression symptoms than those who were given placebo.

Does TMS also works in the treatment of patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder? A study on this was conducted by the University of Iowa. A sample of 6 patients with OCD and 20 patients without it were included in the study. These patients were divided into two groups. One group was given TMS and the other group were given antidepressant medication.

What are the common symptoms observed in people with obsessive-compulsive disorder? When a person is subjected to stressful situations and their minds are made to think and act in ways that are contrary to their usual behavior patterns, a certain proportion of the brain's power is switched on to monitor and control the behavior of the patient. In this way, it can be safely concluded that TMS can influence and change the functioning of the parts of the brain that monitor and control behavior. From the results of this study, it is clear to say that TMS is very effective in the treatment of symptoms such as depression, as it can effectively block the brain's circuits responsible for generating and rewiring mental activity so that patients can be put under effective conditions in which they can deal with their symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder.but still these types of extensive techniques should be done under team of people who are very experts in this organizations like pinnaclebehavioralhealth.com and many more organizations who are doing their best for the betterment of people.

Does TMS cause memory loss? According to the results of another study, the use of the treatments in the treatment of adult patients suffering from dementia caused significant amelioration of the patients' ability to remember things. This was found to be true even of those who were unable to remember things because of some kind of memory loss symptoms. From both of these studies, it is evident that the treatments can definitely improve the condition of patients suffering from minor memory loss symptoms.
