No matter how sad a death is there are certain important procedures that you must follow in case of a sudden demise. There are situations when people suddenly decease in the office or home. Sometimes it could be because of a prolonged illness or it could be a sudden heart failure. In fact, it is astonishing as to how many young men suffer from heart attacks. Unhealthy life style, obesity or stress there could be many reasons for sudden deaths.
In a situation where you are faced with the sudden death of a relative or friend there are a few steps that you must take. Certainly the situation is of complete shock and disbelief if it is a sudden death. There is every possibility that you will feel completely lost and too shocked with sadness to do anything. However, keep your head strong and follow through with these following steps.
Call 911 immediately
The first and most important step that you need to take is that call 911. In case of a sudden death whether at home or office you will have to inform the police. The cause of the death has to be confirmed by a doctor and in case of any doubt the body could be taken for an autopsy. If the person has been suffering from a disease and was under medication then you must inform the doctor. In case of a sudden demise finding out the cause of death is of utmost importance. There could be serious legal implications if the cause of the death is not identified. Whether you feel the cause of death is natural or unnatural always call 911.
Inform the near and dear ones
After informing the police you should inform the near and dear ones of the deceased person. If it is a colleague then you will get all the details from his office or his phone contacts. If you are faced with the sudden death of a relative then you should inform his or her immediate family members. All the major decisions regarding the deceased person should be taken by the immediate family members.
Get to Funeral planning
There are some situations where the family members are not around and they need a few hours or days to be there. In such a scenario you should take some basic steps. After consulting the family members you could get in touch with a professional funeral home to get the body transferred. Whether the body is at the place of death or at the hospital you could get it transferred to a funeral home where it will be kept safely for the burial. You should also make sure that you get the death certificate in time.
Settle the paper works
Along with the death certificate there are other important documents that you need to deal with. The funeral planning will depend on many legal and authoritative functions like informing the Social Security, contacting the insurance company, contacting the lawyer for the will etc. Some of these functions have to be taken care of as soon as possible.Sudden Death, Family Members, Sudden Demise, Funeral Planning, Sudden, Death, Funeral
