Volvo Ocean Round the World Race - 2011-2012 Alicante to Galway

The 'Round the World' 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race, starts in Alicante, Spain around the 29th October. The first leg in the race see the yachts set off from your popular Spanish port for majestic Cape Town, South Africa on 05 November, with the expected arrival date of 25 November. From then about the punishing schedule takes the racers to Abu Dhabi, Sanya (China), Auckland after which Itaja?� (Brazil). From Brazil, they will travel northwards to Miami and after that through the Atlantic to Portugal (Lisbon). On Sunday 10 June 2012, the penultimate stage in the race speeds them up the coast and through the Bay of Biscay to Lorient, Brittany, in Northern France. The climax to the race finish have been around in the challenging waters ahead, since the racers leave the French coast and head out into the Atlantic going back time.
